The Antaeus Academy is a project of the acclaimed Antaeus Company, L.A.’s Classical Theater Ensemble.  The Academy's programs for younger actors, ages 18-35, advance expertise in classical training.  We look for both beginners with potential, and strong, conservatory-trained early-to mid-career actors.

The Classical Styles Workshop meets for 12-week sessions in the spring and fall.  At the end of each 12-week workshop, actors perform in an invited presentation for Antaeus Company members and guests.  Jeanie teaches the workshop in tandem with a rotating group of guest moderators, made up of some of the country's top theater professionals. Present and past moderators include:  Alfred Molina (Shakespeare); Andy Robinson (Brecht, Chekhov); Sabin Epstein (Moliere, Style); Dakin Matthews (Shakespeare); Nike Doukas (Shaw); Olympia Dukakis (Chekhov, Williams); Kristoffer Tabori (Shakespeare); and general scene study in the classics with Jonathan Lynn, Susan Sullivan, David Schweitzer, Sheldon Epps, Tom Moore, Brian Cox, Jessica Kubzansky, Jeffrey Nordling, Daniel Sullivan and others.  Voice work and Alexander Technique are also offered.

The Academy Company is made up of selected actors who have completed Classical Styles.  The Company works on focused projects with Jeanie and outside moderators and presents two workshop productions per year.  Actors who have completed the Classical Styles Workshop and actors involved in Academy programs are eligible to audition for Antaeus Company readings and productions.
